Our bees overwinter sugar-free!
Our approximately 40 bee colonies here around Kettlasbrunn in the Weinviertel region do not receive a single spoonful of industrial sugar. They spend the winter 100% on their own, self-collected honey.
The Bees

If the bees were to introduce themselves here, you would hear a contented buzzing. Behind what is probably the most beautiful sound in the world are +-20 queen bees with their entourage.
Our bees enjoy complete freedom all year round: they conquer blossoms, build honeycombs, buzz off as a swarm – doing exactly what bees do quite naturally. And we, we just let them do what they have to do. And we take care of the rest, for example, making sure the bees stay healthy.
The Beekeepers

This is us: Lena, Elisabeth, and Stefan. We have been beekeeping since 2011.
We got started after taking a beekeeping course at the agricultural college in Mistelbach. Three bee colonies turned into 20. But otherwise, not much has changed since then. Beekeeping is our greatest passion, but it is still a hobby. In the meantime, Stefan has completed his training as a certified professional beekeeper at the Warth beekeeping school. Hooray!
It has always been a matter of course for us to work according to organic standards, and after realizing how important this label is to consumers, we have been officially organic since April 2019!
